Practice surfaces that survive cleats, sleds and 110-degree afternoons.
Nothing grows where the same movement repeats, and in the desert it goes from grass to dust in a single season. Batting cage plates, drill areas, practice net zones — all bare dirt within months.
Landscape turf shreds under athletic use. Sports turf is shorter, denser, with nylon or reinforced polyethylene fibres and heavier backing, higher infill volume for footing, and a shock pad where impact matters.
Common here, and for good reason — a converted garage gym is usable in July when an outdoor one is not. Indoor work goes over the existing slab with a pad, no drainage base required, which makes it faster and generally cheaper than an outdoor equivalent. Glue down permanently or lay loose for a space that changes use.
Sports turf typically runs $10 to $19 per square foot installed, higher with shock pad or inlaid features. Indoor installations over existing slab usually come in lower. Full pricing.
